On the duality principle in option pricing: semimartingale setting
نویسندگان
چکیده
The purpose of this paper is to describe the appropriate mathematical framework for the study of the duality principle in option pricing. We consider models where prices evolve as general exponential semimartingales and provide a complete characterization of the dual process under the dual measure. Particular cases of these models are the ones driven by Brownian motions and by Lévy processes, which have been considered in several papers. Generally speaking, the duality principle states that the calculation of the price of a call option for a model with price process S = e (w.r.t. the measure P ) is equivalent to the calculation of the price of a put option for a suitable dual model S′ = e ′ (w.r.t. the dual measure P ′). More sophisticated duality results are derived for a broad spectrum of exotic options.

Minimizing Shortfall Risk Using Duality Approach - An Application to Partial Hedging in Incomplete Markets
Option pricing and hedging in a complete market are well-studied with nice results using martingale theories. However, they remain as open questions in incomplete markets. In particular, when the underlying processes involve jumps, there could be infinitely many martingale measures which give an interval of no-arbitrage prices instead of a unique one. Consequently, there is no martingale repres...
متن کاملEsscher Transform and the Duality Principle for Multidimensional Semimartingales
The duality principle in option pricing aims at simplifying valuation problems that depend on several variables by associating them to the corresponding dual option pricing problem. Here we analyze the duality principle for options that depend on several assets. The asset price processes are driven by general semimartingales, and the dual measures are constructed via an Esscher transformation. ...
متن کاملHow Does Pricing of Day-ahead Electricity Market Affect Put Option Pricing?
In this paper, impacts of day-ahead market pricing on behavior of producers and consumers in option and day-ahead markets and on option pricing are studied. To this end, two comprehensive equilibrium models for joint put option and day-ahead markets under pay-as-bid and uniform pricing in day-ahead market are presented, respectively. Interaction between put option and day-ahead markets, uncerta...
متن کاملOption Pricing on Commodity Prices Using Jump Diffusion Models
In this paper, we aim at developing a model for option pricing to reduce the risks associated with Ethiopian commodity prices fluctuations. We used the daily closed Unwashed Lekempti grade 5 (ULK5) coffee and Whitish Wollega Sesame Seed Grade3 (WWSS3) prices obtained from Ethiopia commodity exchange (ECX) market to analyse the prices fluctuations. The natures of log-returns of the prices exhibit a...
متن کاملOption Pricing in the Presence of Operational Risk
In this paper we distinguish between operational risks depending on whether the operational risk naturally arises in the context of model risk. As the pricing model exposes itself to operational errors whenever it updates and improves its investment model and other related parameters. In this case, it is no longer optimal to implement the best model. Generally, an option is exercised in a jump-...
